    Hello Halle,

    I have implemented RapidEars within Cocos2d. Sometimes, the crash occurs randomly. But, if I use Rejecto, it doesn’t occur anymore.

    Sometimes it occurs after pocketsphinxDidDetectFinishedSpeech, sometimes after
    `there is a request to change to the language model file /var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/22012A17-E9BF-48DF-BA02-CA98251E3060/Library/Caches/lession_vocal_I_1.DMP

    I searched around and got this topic https://www.politepix.com/forums/topic/mixing-jsgf-and-default-using-changelanguagemodeltofile/ has the call stack like mine.

    How can I fix this problem?(for RapidEars)

    Hmm, I don’t see a reason in the log for this crash and I’ve never had a report of one of these (the crash in the jsgf/arpa switching topic doesn’t look related to this). How is it possible that you’re running OpenEars with cocos2d, have you prevented cocos2d from making any changes to the audio session or are you running OpenEars with an overridden audio session by cocos2d? The most likely cause is that it is an audio coexistence problem due to running both libraries simultaneously.

    Wait, my apologies, here is your issue from your log:

    ERROR: “ngram_search_fwdtree.c”, line 336: No word from the language model has pronunciation in the dictionary

    That means that your language model and dictionary don’t match in the session in which the crash occurs, so there is an exception the first time there is real speech in the audio buffer. Is there anything special about the language model generation code which could account for that, that you could share with me?

    I would focus troubleshooting on making sure that something isn’t happening like giving OEPocketsphinxController the path to an old dictionary somehow instead of the most-recently-generated one, or similar. Something that may help to understand what is happening is to take a look at that .dic file that is generated and used in the crashing session, and see if its contents match what you expect them to be.

    I’m using the default “AcousticModelEnglish.bundle” in OpenEars package.
    I want the app can recognize letters A-Z.
    The crash appears event if I keep “LanguageModelGeneratorLookupList.text” in the default or just keep A-Z.

    The crash occurs rarely randomly and so weird. Because it doesn’t appear if I turn on Rejecto (using Rejecto)

    Hi,

    You can’t change the contents of LanguageModelGeneratorLookupList.text other than to add things to it – you will definitely have crashes if you reduce the number of items in LanguageModelGeneratorLookupList.text. But my suggestion wasn’t to check out your acoustic model, it was to check out the contents of the language model and .dic file that OpenEars is generating for you. The crash is happening because they don’t match, so that is where to direct your troubleshooting.

    For instance, in the log you showed, there is a language model file being passed to OEPocketsphinxController called lession_vocal_A_0.DMP and a dictionary called lession_vocal_A_0.dic, and the crash is happening because lession_vocal_A_0.dic doesn’t have the words from lession_vocal_A_0.DMP in it. Please check out lession_vocal_A_0.dic and see if it contains the words you expect it to contain when there is a crash.

    Don’t worry about the contents of the .DMP file, it is binary. In your .dic file, there is only a single entry, and it is the letter “D” by itself. My question from my last couple of posts is whether that is what you expect to be in your vocabulary at the time of your crash, or if you expect the contents to be different. You can check this by adding some logging that shows you your current letter, and then comparing it with the contents of the .dic file that is being used at the time of the crash. You can verify that it is the file being used because this logging line will show it being loaded:

    By the way, your crash showed a crash with the .dic file lession_vocal_A_0.dic but you showed me the contents of a file called lession_vocal_D_3.dic. It is extremely important to only troubleshoot the files that you know are being used at the time of the crash, or you will be spending time troubleshooting working files, and not troubleshooting the files with the issue you’re asking about.

    OK, please don’t post the contents of the DMP file since as I mentioned it is a binary. At the same time that a DMP file is created, there is also a file called .arpa created, so please show the contents of a crashing .dic file and the contents of the arpa file with the same name as a crashing .DMP file.     OK, before we continue, this log shows that your OpenEars version is 2.03. Please upgrade to the most-recent versions of OpenEars before we do more troubleshooting since OpenEars 2.03 isn’t expected to be compatible with RapidEars 2.04:

    Well, it is so weird. My co-worker said he updated RapidEars to 2.04.

    RapidEars could be 2.04 (the logging doesn’t say and I wouldn’t assume) however, RapidEars is just the plugin, you are also using OpenEars and you also have to use a version of OpenEars which is compatible with your version of RapidEars. When you upgrade or install RapidEars, it is also necessary to make sure you are using the latest version of OpenEars. Your version of OpenEars is version 2.03, which I would expect to have problems when used with RapidEars 2.04 since the last two OpenEars versions contained fixes for RapidEars-related issues:

    Make sure to take all normal troubleshooting steps after your upgrade such as verifying by looking at the logging output that you are now using the current version of OpenEars and cleaning your project. Also very important to make sure that you have the standard shipping acoustic model in use since you mentioned altering it in a previous post. If you are still having issues after that we can look into this more.
